Currently there
is a divide that exist between black women and white women. This
boundary forces black women to turn away from feminism and create
black feminism. Women of color did not appreciate what black
feminism represented and decided to join the Womanist movement. The
womanist movement seems to be more of an all-encompassing movement
that doesnt appear anti-men. However, women of color should beware
of this movement because movements should make individuals
uncomfortable. Although there is, a thought that black men cannot
oppress black women this is a false narrative. Although the
Womanist movement seems like an upgrade from Black
Feminism,
black women should beware of taking black men off the hot seat.

Black Feminism
focuses on the involvements, necessities, and yearnings of women of
color (Aldridge 193). In inaugurating why Black Feminism is
significant, it must be recognized that women of color have been
victimized three times: by discrimination, sexism, and economic
exploitation. These three unjust forces disturb women of color
concurrently and correspondingly persistently (Gordon 166). The
goal of Black Feminism is to generate a standard by which women of
color can measure their truths, both in thought and in action

Black Feminism
is still an imitative version of Feminism, which is
female-centered. Womanism, as defined previously, is revolved
around the ordinary direction of life, family, and a complimentary
association with men and women. It is all-embracing and universal.
Another critique on Black Feminism is Black Feminism challenges the
social, political, and educational plights of African-American
women in the United States but it does not address all the
international concerns that women in the African Diaspora are
dealing with. A problem with this critique is that Womanism is
attempting to establish their importance by trying to make Black
Feminist less important. In fact, there are many components in
Black Feminism that are considered womanist principles, such as the
acknowledgement of African roots, the pattern of defining a Black
womans perspective and the struggle to rectify sexist attitudes.
Some believe Womanism is the direction that Black Feminism should
be progressing towards. Since Black Feminism is primarily focused
on issues in the United States, it is not enough for the current
conditions of the world. However, this seems a bit contradictory
since Womanism condemns Black Feminism shares some of the same
principles of Feminism. Those who support the Black Feminism or
Feminism movement cannot change the world conditions until they
change the conditions here.
