United States and throughout the world we have young men and women
driving for the first time. Furthermore, there are some concerns
with young drivers not being responsible enough to handle the
operations of a vehicle without doing harm to themselves or someone
else. Consequently, we need to apply stronger restrictions on new
drivers from the age of 16-21, in doing this the
ratewill begin to drop.
Graduated Driver License
The rate of vehicle incident is high among our youth. The Graduated Driver License or the GDL was developed in the mid-90s in the United Statesto lower the incident rate. In the mid-1970s to the early 1990s the rate of mortality dropped from 390,000 to 280,000 deaths per year, but from 1992 to 2000 the rate has remained at a constant level. To address the issues, many states implemented a new program called the GDL and recent study has been shown that this program is working. The study was done and within 2 years after implementation of the GDL program in the State of Delaware, the hospitalization rate, injury rate, and crash rate has significantly decreased. Furthermore, the program works by limiting when a driver can drive day or night time how many show more content
Many people speculate, that this is because our young people are just simply waiting till they turn 18 and dogging the GDL. If we make the GDL requirement mandatory for any new driver, any age we will see this program work at its full
