I had never heard of separate spheres till this week. The concept that men are the ones to work and woman take care of the house is something that I have known, I had just never heard of the actual term. In the course book on page 588, it describes the two spheres. The public sphere was that of politics and the private sphere was that of home and hearth. I research separate spheres and found an article titled, Gender: Separate Spheres for Men and Women. In this article, it explains the roles in the different spheres. The mens sphere consisted of the world of industry, commerce, and politics, while the womens sphere consisted of home, church, and social visits.
