The purpose of this project is to increase your understanding of
the current trends relevant to early intervention and early
childhood special education. You should work in groups and identify
a trend and then prepare a presentation for the whole group. The
presentation should be both educational as well as conversational
(could be controversial as well). Please research the trend and
describe the critical features, educate your peers about the
currency of the trend (what makes it current and important for the
field), and create a plan to lead a short discussion on the trend.
Some of the topics in the past have included: evidence-based
practices in education, RTI, role of standardized assessment,
prenatal genetic testing, home visiting, prevention and cost
benefit analysis, universal healthcare, school funding formulas,
quality of infant/toddler care, caregiver/teacher training and work
conditions, etc.
