Assessment 2 - Essay Your task is to prepare an academic essay that responds to the following question: A University HR manager is trying to decide whether to focus more on internal or external recruitment. Which approach to recruitment would you suggest they focus on, and why? Your response should consider a variety of different recruitment methods, as well as taking other factors into account, such as the industry context and the type of workers being recruited. Also, while both approaches can be used by an organisation, the question asks you to discuss which approach you believe should be the primary focus of the HR manager. Remember, the purpose of an academic essay is to make a justified argument. Good essays will consider alternative perspectives, but will also address these opposing views to ensure that the actual argument being made is very clear. This written assessment is designed to assist you to develop skills in the analysis of a typical business situation based on the HR theories and models relevant to the employment relationship. You need to demonstrate your research, analysis, critical thinking and written communication skills; particularly in the area of developing an argument in the context of academic essay writing. Students are expected to engage in extensive research within the academic literature, and a minimum of (5) scholarly references should be used. (Generally speaking, academic peer-reviewed journal articles are the best sources to use). Note that this is a minimum requirement, and better essays will support their argument with more academic sources.
