To prepare for this PDP Assignment: • Review information from the Learning Resources for Weeks 5-8 • Review your Week 3 PDP assignment and the feedback you received from your instructor • Reflect on your learning in this module and how it relates to your current and/or future practice as a HR professional To complete this PDP Assignment: • Write a critically reflective paper (500 words) on the following: o How do you see the concepts that you have studied applying to your professional experience? o What steps might you now take to aid you in the transition of applying the coursework to your workplace? o How can you link what you have studied in this module with what you learned in your previous modules? o What ethical and cultural issues have you considered important in this module and how have they impacted upon your views of Human Resource Management and business strategy? o Do you feel that you have improved your ‘key skills’ (report writing, time management, etc.) as a result of your experiences with this module? Your Personal Development Portfolio (PDP) is at the merit level. Your work is at appropriate length and clearly presented. You mentioned the key concepts that you have learned in weeks 1 to 3. You addressed most of the key components of Personal Development Portfolio: you tried to relate your professional experience with what you’ve learnt so far and you also outlined your career aspirations. Please keep in mind that PDP is a reflective paper and the main emphasis is to be put on personal reflection. You should identify your personal bias and misconceptions with regards to performance management and indicate if there were any changes in your perception as the module progressed. In your PDP, you stated: “According to my personal biases, I believe that if the manager can be able to create the suitable environment and appropriate reward system for the candidates working in the organisation, then it will create a positive impact on them and simultaneously increases the output”. Have your opinion gradually changed or not? Explain why it was the case. Personal bias refers to a tendency to view a subject or other people based on one’s point of view. To some extent, bias is a kind of prejudice, stereotype, or even false impression. The purpose of PDP is to reflect on your experience and examine if you had misconception about performance management. In writing PDP, you need to consider questions such as: what new skills (e.g. time management, report writing skill) have you gained in the module? What have you learned? What further improvements are needed? Please remember these points in writing your next PDP which is due in week 8.
