Ms. Howe is the
effecting hand of the 80s in the modern age. The parents of the
eighties were much less restrained in terms of the upbringing. As a
child, Ms. Howe played in the streets, fearless, with no worries.
Howe notes that in the present age, there is much tension in the
parents and children of today. It can be seen in her class that she
strives to have a relaxed feel to each relationship. She walks
around, jokes with students, and has concerning conversations (both
concerning and with concern). She also opens every class with a
journal as a way of helping people be themselves in front of
