In the novel
Captain Blood written by Rafael Sabatini, he tells us a real-life
experience of a slave escaping, becoming a pirate and eventually
the governor of the Jamaica. The novel is kind of like the
modern-day film Django Unchained. The novel includes some
fictionalized plot to keep it interesting but for the most part it
happened to someone, somewhere. Captain Blood, also known as Peter
Blood, seeks justice throughout the whole story even when he isnt
supposed to. From an escaped slave to a pirate and eventually a
governor, Peter Blood seeks nothing more than justice throughout
his whole journey when most people would seek revenge.

When pirates
came to the island one night attacking and looking for loot, Bloods
first plan of escaping was looking grim. The first plan was to buy
a boat and leave the island. When Blood see an opportunity for
another
escaperoute, he
gathered all the slaves on the island and attacked one of the
ships. He managed to overthrow and capture one of their ships.
Being a wanted man, Blood is left with no other options but being a
pirate. Blood is not a pirate like you think. When you think of a
pirate you think of a murderer, rapist and someone that looks out
only for their self. Blood is constantly throughout the novel
trying to avoid murder and looks out for people other than

Like England,
Blood also didnt like the Spanish. Blood only attacked Spanish
ships at first. The Spanish were rich and it wasnt like he was
stilling from the poor. Bloods situation reminds me of the story
Robin Hood. These two stories share a similar theme, stealing from
the rich and giving to the poor. Without Blood, what do you think
his crew would be doing? They would do what pirates normally do:
kill, rape and steal. Blood is actually saving lives by just being
the leader of his crew and keeping them under control. Blood, as
far as we know. has never killed for personal gain.
Captain Blood has all the justification he needs for the
people that he has killed. One victim Blood killed was a Spanish
solider who was trying to rape a girl. I firmly believe Captain
Blood did what was necessary. I wouldnt want a person who tried to
rape a girl to walk on this earth either. He was helping a innocent
girl who couldnt defend herself. Captain Blood did what was right
and he took justice into his own
