Khaled
Hosseinis novel The Kite Runner, depicts the conflicting life of
Amir, a young boy who lives in Kabul, Afghanistan. His life becomes
complicated at age twelve when he witnessed his best friend and
Hazara servant, Hassan, get raped and abused. Amir just idoly stood
by but was he feeling helpless, or was Hassan just a servant that
meant nothing to him. This is when the question of
good and
evilcomes out. While Amir shows significantly redeemable
qualities throughout the book of doing, it does not change that he
was toying with the fact that he let such a vial ast be committed
in the first place. Later Amir finds out that Hassan was his
brother and he tries desperately to do whatever he can to do good
things in Hassan's name like adopt

When Amir and
Baba went to the lake one day when Baba had built the orphanage,
Amir exclaimed, he asked me to fetch Hassan too, but I lied and
told him Hassan had the runs (13). This associates the power Aamir
wants in order to impress his father. Furthermore it embellishes
the fact that Amirs quench for power over Hassan was growing since
the beginning of the book, Hassan was always, steps in to fend
them off (22), which made Amir feel weak and powerless. This
enraged the evil that was brewing inside him, and created a dynamic
of always wanting more. The power that came from Babas approval
always came so easily to Hassan, However for Amir, he always went
out of his way to be vengeful towards him. Hosseini depicts this
constantly throughout his life, for example when he graduated
highschool in California and Baba mentioned how good it would be to
have Hassan there with them in the new car they had gotten, Amir
said, a pair of steel hands closed around my windpipe at the sound
of Hassan's name (134). Hosseini wants us to see that Amir is
constantly wants that power over his fathers relationship with
him, but Hassan always gets in the way of that. Even when Amir was
doing an act of good to save Sohrab, he hadnt felt happy and [he]
hadnt felt better, not at all (289). Amir began to laugh during
the time that he

Evil is the
sense of gaining power over others and doing harmful things to
them. We are a little malicious inside, because we all get angry at
one time or another. Although throughout our lives social
pressures, people, and events will shape weather that evil
subsidies or grows. The Kite Runner is a depiction of bad that not
everyone sees. Assef is the obvious villain in this book but Amir's
experiences and decisions caused him to be corrupted by his
mistakes as well. He made the decision not to help Hassan when he
was being raped, and from then on he inflicted physical and mental
abuse onto him. Amir drove Hassan out of his home and was
constantly trying to gain power over him throughout their lives
together. In the end he did things to benefit him, which caused a
divide between his good actions turning into ones that benefit his
bad ones. Considering this, as a society we may not be able to
avoid the Evils embedded into our environments, but we can at least
be honest and open, and not suppress our desires and feelings
towards one
