Euthanasia is a touchy subject to most people. I believe that Euthanasia is a helpful method used to give terminally ill people control over when and how they pass. Euthanasia can be used to help terminally ill people out of their misery and save their families a lot of hospital bills and heartache. Although, a large amount of people disagree with the practice of assisted suicide.

In 1998 Jack appeared on the television show 60 Minutes. Following the broadcast of the footage he spoke to reporters and asked that the court system pursue him. He was charged with second-degree murder for his involvement in the assisted suicide of Thomas Youk who at the time was suffering from Lou Gehrig’s disease. On March 26th, 1999 the Oakland County jury convicted Jack with second-degree murder and he was sentenced to 25 years in prison with the possibility of parole. On June 1st, 2007 Jack kevorkian was released from prison after serving 8 years for good behavior. On June 3rd, 2011 Jack Kevorkian died at Beaumont Hospital in Michigan due to heart and kidney …show more content…
There are few states that euthanasia is considered legal and humane. Those states include only Oregon and Washington. These states do not have statutes criminalizing euthanasia. Nine states consider euthanasia a criminal act through common law. These states include Alabama, Idaho, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, South Carolina, Vermont, West Virginia. These states completely disagree with euthanasia and all that it has to offer. There are also 34 states that have statutes completely criminalizing the act. Those 34 states include Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin. Euthanasia is a complicated mess in few states. These states aren’t too clear on their feelings about the subject. In Ohio, euthanasia is not considered a crime but is not practiced by physicians.
