There were three main objectives of this experiment. The first objective was comparing and contrasting the heat of a Bunsen burner open flame and a candle, as well as how it affected a liquid (water.) The second included learning about the different pieces and parts of a Bunsen burner, and how to put them to use. The last objective was testing how oxygen affects spontaneous combustion, and the effects of lower versus higher oxygen on a flame. The first objective was reached by measuring how long it took for both liquids to come to a boil over both the Bunsen burner and the candle, while the second was achieved by practicing safety procedures around the Bunsen burner while taking apart and reassembling the burner to understand how it works and
