According to the Ted talks, William Kamkwamba was born in Malawi, South East Africa. He had 6 sisters and was the only boy besides his dad in his family. William’s father was a farmer in his village, and his family depended on the rain to water the plants so they could harvest and eat them. William lived in a small house with no electricity and no water. His sisters had to walk to the nearest water source and then carry it back to their home just so they could have water. Once William was old enough he went to school. He enjoyed school and was fascinated how things work. At school William usually had a banana for lunch and other kids wanted to take it, but William refused. William ignored them and did not listen to other people trying to command him. When William came back he had another idea to build another windmill that pumped water. William had gotten money to build a second Windmill back in America so instead of a junkyard he used the money to buy pieces. William had more experience so it took him a shorter time to build the Windmill. When William finished his Windmill it had two propellers and pumped water for his family and village. Once again the Journalist came back and invited him in another Ted Talk. This time William got to see the real Windmills and how they worked in Palm Springs. Then William decided to give a school a Windmill in Africa. William did not do it alone most of the kids helped him make it.
As you can see William built his windmills to provide electricity for his home and water for his family and village. Now, William would like to make a company that builds windmills so that a lot of people can have electricity and a close water source throughout their lives. William took one sentence out of a book and made it into a life changing
