America is home
to thousands of religions, varying from Catholicism, Buddhism,
Scientology, to Atheism. Each one of these religions has specific
practices and doctrines that they following, allowing the people of
our society to choose where they feel most comfortable. However,
with so many varying ideologies, the youth of our generation
struggles to find what is right and what is wrong. Jesus Camp is
a documentary focusing on the lives of Evangelical youth as they
are trained to be a part of an army for God. For many, like me,
this documentary shocked me and my view of
religion,
especially in talking about religion's relationship with society.
Modern society often faces a battle with religion, having opposing
views on important topics such as abortion and education. While
this documentary is an aggressive approach to the reality of
religion in America, it is a straightforward expression of the

The films
displays many aspect of our government that is tested by
traditional religions, including abortion, education, and judicial
positions. Becky Fischer and other members of the church aim to
teach the minds of those who will take over within the years to
come. As with modern society, it is the youth that will one day
control the direction America runs in, so it is in the best
interest to feed as much inspiration into young children. While the
film was very shocking, showing some severe religious practices,
the reality of the film was much more. To better the statistics of
America, and equalize religions, classes, and races, the youth of
our society must be influenced. The fate of the Evangelical
