Some of the statistics given by Amy Scott were appealing. I learned several things as I listened to the podcast. For example, 50% of children who live in the suburbs and attend public schools are poor (Scott, 2015.) The free/reduced lunch phenomenon is very prevalent in todays education system (Scott, 2015). In southern and western parts of The United States, povertywas grown tremendously (Scott, 2015). The figures served as informative and heartbreaking to me. Ultimately, poverty and the lack of resources negatively impact the economy (Scott, 2015). My perceived knowledge of why its difficult for teachers to remain at suffering schools was initially because of the crime rate, or a similar idea however, I learned that cost rises to teach
