This task requires student to form work groups, the size and constitution to be determined with the class facilitator, and to play the role of organisational consultants and to conduct a contextual analysis of an organisation. Each group is to select an organisation with which they are familiar, preferably one that a member of the group has access to, and to analyse the organisation using two (2) of Bolman and Deal's four frames. Students must analyse the organisation using the Structural frame and Human Resource(HR) frames. Students are then to highlight key issues that emerge from the analysis and a make a series of recommendations designed to improve oganisational performance. Students are to prepare an AV presentation that may include videos, images, interviews and narration to powerpoints that presents their observation of the organisation against the two selected frames. This is to be played at the third Saturday workshop for on campus students, with all group members present and ready to field questions concerning their analysis (All students must be present to present and field questions). Online students must submit a narrated presentation and report- please refer to Moodle for submission dates). This is to be accompanied by a written business report of not more than 1200 words that summarises key findings against the frames. Assessment Criteria demonstrate the capability two use two of the four frames as a analytical tool to identify key issues that impact on organisational performance define key concepts and terms utilise key organisational, structural, cultural, HR and or political concepts and terms to describe and analyse an organisational context use business examples to illustrate structural, cultural, HR and or political concepts so as to demonstrate understanding demonstrate a breadth and quality of research by using a minimum of 12 academic sources from recommended texts and Journal articles ability to prepare a professional presentation in the nominated format ability to work cooperatively in work-based team and present a cohesive AV presentation and answer relevant questions during the presentation use of the Harvard in text referencing system to correctly cite academic sources
