In The Book
Thief the narrator is Death. He is following the life of a young
girl named Liesel. Life is not kind to her from a young age. Her
father being accused of communism during WWII leads her mother
putting her and her brother into foster care. On the way her
brother dies and has to be buried in an unmarked grave on the side
of a train track. She grows up being influenced by a school that
enforces teaching the morals of Hitler Youth. All throughout her
childhood people she loves die.
However, Liesel doesnt view the people in her life with a
label. She doesnt see them as above anyone else, nor is she swayed
