They conducted a study in which subjects select a candidate to vote for after reading a biased newspaper article. They use the Fox News channel, which is a more conservative network, for their study. In order to see if there is a correlation between media bias and voting patterns, they use town-voting data and compare it to the town cable programming data. After their research was conducted, they concluded that Fox News programs did affect voters. In fact, Republicans gained .4 to .7 percentage points in the towns that broadcast Fox News more often. This article will be very helpful in my research project because it helps me understand the media bias argument from a different perspective. Now, my research will have both the liberal and conservative view on media bias. Both authors have very extensive backgrounds as professors which demonstrate their credibility.
