The tougher the experience is, the more somebody urges the desire to turn their life around, to escape all the darkness and find the shining light. In The Color Purple by Alice Walker, the main character Celie writes letters to God, describing what she is going through at the moment. Pa is her dead mothers partner and, he secretly rapes and physically abuses Celie throughout her teenage years. This causes her to think that the rape is normal, become timid, and not be able to defend herself. Even though, Celie has limited knowledge, her knowledge then expands and, she decides to take control of her life and finally finds her happiness to enjoy it.
