Â Â Â Using Table 5.2 on page 171 of your text as a guide, draw a table based on the main functional resource areas of the company and the capacity of each resource to exhibit a number of capabilities relative to the companyâ€™s main competitors. When we combine capabilities with Key Success Factors (see page 167), we can soon tell which capabilities are important. Read pages 167 to 171 to provide the background.
Â Â Â Rate the capability you listed for each resource area (see pages 171-172). Each capability has only one rating either plus or minus. For example, you might rate it -3. The highest rating possible for a capability is +5 and the lowest -5. The capabilities you identify for the company will be the ones most likely leading to a â€˜better thanâ€™ or â€˜worse thanâ€™ competitors.
Â Â Â Choose the top five to ten capabilities. That is, the ones with the highest scores. For each of Â Â Â Â the highest capabilities you select, explain in 100-150 words why the capability will Â Â Â Â contribute to the companyâ€™s competitive advantage relative to competitors. (Total 500 words)
