He not only sees nature as beautiful during tranquil moments he describes spring as shining days when the world was new but also awe-inspiring and powerful in its most destructive moments; for instance, he describes a devastating fire as sending a huge roar into the sky/ conquering, victorious (Virgil 71). His intense word choice and imagery, despite depicting destruction, still displays Virgils respect for every aspect of nature, including the unavoidable hardships and disasters that sometimes befall farmers. Virgil also describes pastoral life in divine terms, further cementing his admiration; he explains that Jupiter ordained the work of farmers himself, and calls upon various gods and goddesses of the harvest and nature in order to sing the blessings of (their) gifts (Virgil 11, 3). Virgil also pays his respect to every element of farm life from the soil to the trees, to even the mice that may inhabit the farmland via personification throughout the piece.
